More Animals And V&A

My many posts shall probably slow down for a bit now as work really consumes me... but I shall continue to try and draw when I can. I discovered some life drawing sessions happen ridiculously close to where I reside, so shall investigate that one next week.

**Also: A big thank you to those who do take the time to look through my blog! To know even one person is looking makes it worth carrying on.**

I felt a bit of despair again with some of my drawings in the Victoria and Albert museum, so there's only a few I'm showing from there. Later on I rediscovered charcoal and that was fun.

Looks a mess but supposed to give the impression the horse is running or something.


I'm pleased how the back-end came out.

Animals!

Natural History stuffed animals that is. A bit more up my street now... animals are more inspiring to draw. I decided to bring some 'Sharpie' marker felt tips with me this time.

I managed to make a pretty sorry looking hybrid tiger look smiley...

Ah, this Jerboa brought back amusing memories from my first visit in 1999.

Sadly the dinosaur section was closed. But there is a separate exhibition I might go around when I have monies.

Tate Modern (aka not more bloody sketches)

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the place... it just reminds me why I'm not - and could not be - a fine artist and such things. I did make some drawings of art I saw there, but a few came out quite appallingly in my opinion. I half blame the new sketchbook that is rather diddy - but it's good to try out different sizes.

... It does feel good and right to be drawing like this again. Now I just need to post up more colourful and imaginative pieces.

Tate Britain and Park

I was so eager to do more sketches in my days off which is a great sign - and today I chose to go to Tate Britain (plus a mini gallery elsewhere), and rather adventurously, Tate Modern (but that did not happen in the end due to time). Going to Tate Britain was actually a lot more fruitful than I had anticipated and I have ended up with more sketches than planned - yaay!

My usual initial first sketch which is always quite scribbly of people looking around the gallery. I gave in to pencil because it did seem to give me a better start - and no eraser was used.



Being in the art gallery, of course I would also actually draw parts of paintings and sculptures. I do seem to enjoy drawing horses and like animals - maybe I should be an Equestrian artist or something, heh... perhaps not.

It has been so so long... finally more naked bodies! But just torso sculptures here.



After the enthusiasm from Britain, I then went by the little park area by the river. I think it was called 'Riverside Walk Park' or something of that nature. I tried and failed to draw a building - blimey, they are so hard to muster enthusiasm for at times.





I came to the end of the sketchbook!



As I was about to pack up, I noticed a cute doggy that just kept rolling around on its back. Unfortunately a little too quickly for me even to draw, but there's some of sorts. Pigeons!



A more successful day on teh drawing front, I would say. Perhaps the Tate Modern next?

Lastly, just a few more sketches from the Crystal Palace day. I took a few photos and drew from those. Pencil became my friend.
